The magazine mizz (course work magazine 2)

‘Mizz’ which is the masthead of the magazine makes it obvious that it is for girls because it is another way of saying miss. The title also denotes that it is uncomplicated and plain. However the colour scheme pink makes it obvious that this magazine is aims at girls, it also stereotypes girls using colours like pink and putting popular girls on the front cover which is the main image. The colour pink connotes innocent, feminine and bright. This implies that it is suitable for certain young people, starting from the age of 12. The font is bold with various theme fonts which make it look fancy; it’s like a funky/girly font. In addition the main image is a close up which is zoomed into Leona Lewis’s face, nevertheless her skin seems to be smooth and pure, and this would probably be photomontage’s help which gives a stunning look!

Leona Lewis’s lips are pink as well, she nearly camouflages in the magazine, and everything is pink which maybe makes it seem repetitive. Leona Lewis is many girls dream to be like her, her face in the main image persuades the audience because they see their favorite celebrity on the front cover. Furthermore the target audience is aimed at the age of 12 to 20, this magazine is appropriate for young children because it does not include partially nude young woman in erotic poses. The layout of this magazine is clearly not decorated enough, with the colour white and mainly pink surrounding the whole cover! The main image is behind the texts, it seems like Leona Lewis is hiding at the background.

The magazine does not say much and hasn't got enough information, not much text written. The language of the magazine is however straightforward that it is unintelligent, but on the other hand it doesn't distract the audience which Leona Lewis stands out immediately. This magazine is aimed at woman C2DE which means that this magazine is for people that are less capable you read. The word ‘exclusive!’ reinforces that this is the only magazine that overs the story and that no other magazine does! The strap line ‘real life shocker’ suggests that this magazine includes real life stories as well, which persuades the audience and increases the level of interest to buy this magazine. The main sell line ‘the biggest fortnightly girl’s mag!’ implies that this magazine is up every two weeks in different major shocks and surprises. The work ‘BIGGEST’ gives an expensive and powerful view.

The price of the magazine is £2.10, girls are willing to buy this magazine and that they are interested in famous men! Magazines like for example heat are normally like 80p but still has enough information, maybe it can be about the quality, the way it is designed or the way it is organized. The word ‘Revealed’ would leave questions on the audience’s minds and it would make the audience feel curious what is to be revealed (admitted). The word ‘shocker’ looks like an onomatopoeia flashing out, it looks like it’s something really important, to find out buy this magazine! The magazine uses direct mode of address by Leona Lewis trying to do eye contact with you, the main image it directly looking at the audience. The secondary image of Zefron blows the females mind around, because of this beauty and his characteristics, he is many girls fans, which he is purposely put on the cover to tell the audience that this image might be small but the information written inside is a story about him (revealed). Fashion is one of the most common things girls love and are interested in; it also makes it look very fancy and gives a stylish look.

THE MAGAZINE ESQUIRE  (course work magazine 1)

The masthead of the magazine ‘Esquire’ connotes gentlemen, the title was started to be used in 1920s, this is deliberately done because gentlemen is used for men and this makes it obvious that he target audience is aimed at men. however esquire has connotation of sophistication because it is an old style word for gentelman. the language communicates with the target audience because they are type of people that use formal english at home, work etc... for example 'next republican presidential nominee' uses powerful and challenging word for the audience which this would be aimed for higher, people that have capability of reading.

Also the age range would be 20-40, which would only include early adulthood. However the font on the masthead looks old, it seems like hand writing from 1920s, and it’s bold and rich. They used variety of different fonts which makes the page look outstanding; it also makes it look formal and well presented.

Furthermore the layout is crowded (all together), it is busy with loads of texts, it steals too much focus that they would not realise the main image , but still, James Franco wins the challenge and still leads the front cover!  The main cover lines are in capital letters and are bold. On the other hand it would increase the reader’s attention towards the magazine; it is also high standard for intelligent readers. This magazine seems like it is aimed at men ABC1 this implies that this magazine is for people that are capable to read intelligent language!

Nevertheless the woman at the bottom right corner of the page is the secondary image which flashes out because of her red dress, which is as red as blood. The colour of her dress connotes passion, anger and danger this links to ‘of mice and men’ (curly’s wife) because she is described exactly the same. This can persuade the audience buy the magazine because men are mostly interested in sexy woman, it’s like she is covering the whole magazine cover because of her pose and the way she is dressed. This is ironic because she is at the bottom edge, which seems like she is not important, but James Franco is because the lady doesn't have a name, she is unnecessary at the bottom page but James Franco is necessary, the proof of this is that his name is large and bold and he is the main image, as huge as the galaxy. This signifies that the person that made this magazine is trying to say that it’s not all about women, it is men too, and men are popular too! For the woman it looks like fame is no problem for her, because a glance at her makes her famous instantly. This includes her figure, beauty, power and mentally strength. Her body language in femininity is represented negatively because of her appearance and the way she has structured herself! The use of language is cultural, which is in Spanish, this also includes ability to read this magazine.

The main image of James Franco looks smart and professional; he looks posh and relaxed. The connotation of the top button not had done means that he is not quite formal and serious! The audience would be raved with his corporeal! The magazine is using direct mode of address, James Franco is directly looking at the audience, it somehow hypnotises you with his powerful looks, his eyes liquid gold, you can see the whole universe inside it, it’s like the universe began as small as an eye pupil with the look of his eye outside (the iris) of James Franco’s eyes. His masculinity denotes strength, tough and brave, which is a positive view.

The colour scheme used is mostly black, grey and white which gives it a pure and smart look, it connotes seriousness and formality, it includes a bit of excitement and power. Furthermore ‘eat like a man, drink like a man, dress like a man all year long’ suggests that there are things you have to do correctly to prove that you are a solid man, it also implies that this magazine is classified, and that this magazine has the top secrets! ‘Should we feel bad for putting James Franco on out front cover? For petey’s sake the guy if everywhere’ this is a rhetorical question, however this is trying to say that James Franco is so attractive that he is everywhere, another famous men should have had the chance to be the main image but James Franco cannot be let down, others are not worth it.
There is no barcode/price, this is on purpose to inform that the price is not important, it’s all about the magazine, that it is amazing and it will increase your knowledge, you would have to buy it! The strap line ‘man at his best’ reinforces that this magazine is for men that are popular and that are at their very best. ’11 men died in the gulf disaster these are their stories’ this magazine includes real life stories like the newspaper which is about the society. ‘Suits, shoes and more’ fashion is not easy for men so this is a persuasive way of making the audience buy this magazine. Fashion in this magazine would include a look like James Franco (his style). ‘Encyclopedia of now, yes now’ suggests that there are more pertinent information and that there are so many news, it couldn't fit the front cover!

This cd cover of Beyoncé looks, mature and elegant, she seems innocent and posh! However she does not show a negative appearance (not showing off her body).

This cd cover of Lady Gaga, looks immature and violent with those red lip stick, this reinforces that her red lips shows that she is linked to 'of mice and men' the character of curly's wife, which she is wicked and immature!

This is a cd cover of Michael Jackson. He was the ''King of pop'', he is a singer, and a very good dancer! one of this music's called thriller was amazing, I admire him!

This is my hand that I edited and tried to make it look old, crusty and dirty!

'Armani code'
- the woman's body language is very posh and smooth, quite majestic, it shoes that's she is in control, she doesn't respond to losers like the man at the background staring at her.
-font is pure and bright, however the connotation of her dress is as black as the black dwarf, the sparkles are like the shining stars, it is hypnotising, very expensive and elegant! she looks like an angel.
the colour scheme is dark and black so the women's bright soft skin can stand out instantly like a diamond! target audience is aimed at the age of 20-40.
